Kathmandu, Bagmati province – The National Centre for AIDS and STD Control, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with technical support from WHO Nepal, held a one-day national validation meeting to review findings from a comprehensive review of the National HIV Strategic Plan (NHSP) 2021–2026 on 15 March. Chaired by the Secretary of the MoHP, the meeting included senior government officials, representatives from UN agencies, development partners, civil society and key populations who validated key findings and agreed on strategic recommendations for the next phase of Nepal’s HIV response. Participants also discussed achievements, ongoing challenges and evidence-based recommendations across eight priority areas. The review, conducted between January and March 2026, involved provincial consultations, interviews with 28 key informants, visits to 14 HIV service sites and an extensive review of key documents. The process was supported by WHO, UNDP, FHI360 and other partners, demonstrating their shared commitment to strengthening the national HIV response. The findings will now guide the next NHSP 2026–2031, with WHO continuing technical support to ensure alignment with global HIV targets.
